I'm back!

After weeks of inactivity, this post is dedicated to the events that had happened.

For work, at least I see some progress in it. Hopefully I can learn more stuff, at least I have something to write in report :)

This month is quite happening for me. First time dining buffet at 5-star hotel. First time attending dragonboat carnival. Also first time attending 堂弟 1 year old birthday haha.

11 Feb - went Bugis with You Jin for the very first time (since year 2 sem 1?). Bought the famous bugis bread from Bugis street stall, a bit expensive, but was delicious. :)

Then as we were walking around Bugis Junction, playing with Samsung phones and tablets, we saw this 3D illusion floor painting. Took a photo of me 'lost my balance and about to fall'... Haha! Didn't know such painting exists in Singapore!

要跌倒了!

14 Feb - talk about the Sushi Tei dinner on Valentine's Day first. Not some lovey-dovey outing pls. Attendees were me, Nicholas, Sebastian, HH and HL.

I really have to thank HH for organsing yet messing up this outing. Firstly, he wanted and keep on chanting about the Sushi Tei's new outlet @ 112 Katong has 5x the points and hit $100 got a $25 voucher. Firstly, he wanted to collaborate with HL to give the rest of us surprise. But he messed up the whole thing. Left me and Nicholas very kan cheong and sian before the dinner. And the mindset is HL is not coming, so it's a 'men's talk' day. Haha.. until...

Until HL turned up! OMG! What a surprise. Me and Nicholas were shocked to see her. That was quite unexpected. So we had a feast of Japanese food, which high HH. Bento was really average only, I won't pick it over the rest. At least fried rice (tho some argued that can buy from downstair's 煮炒檔) tasted better than Bento. The rest were good. Pics coming up.

講到日本料理就high到他

After which, we walked to Parkway Parade's starbucks to play 三國殺. As usual, I'm the first to finish off the game. Sian...

21 Feb - dinner gathering @ 18 chefs by HH again. 這回還真的給他炸到 - all along thought he was referring to Tiong Bahru's branch, until 5pm he said it's Simei! OMG!

As for the food, I'm not a BIG FAN of western food, say baked rice or pasta. That said, I'm not totally hate it la. But given a choice, I would choose Chinese or Japanese or Thai over western. Perhaps I feel that I can get quite sick of it easily. Not chicken chop, then is chicken cutlet or baked rice. Then you have pork version too. Anyway, for the price I pay, I can't really complain a lot about it. GPGT:

Baked rice with Japanese curry but it tasted more like Indian curry

24 Feb - It was a Friday, a working day for me. Suddenly colleague Tue wanted to have a Vietnamese cuisine @ The Orange Lantern for lunch and he's treating me! Was very very surprised by his sudden change for taste. Initially he wanted to eat McD.

This is my first time eating Vietnamese food. To be honest and I agree with Tue, Vietnamese food is really not cheap in Singapore. Beef is the main food item in Vietnamese cuisine. But since I'm not into beef, so I chose some other food items.

For the fried seafood kway teow, it was average at best. Nothing fantastic out of it. To be honest, pad thai is better at taste. Not sure why like this. On the other hand, I loved the side dish! I mean it's really unique and it's not like Thai nor Chinese cuisine. There is this ngo hiang they went to fried it, it tasted really crunchy outside but inside is as original as possible. Delicious.

As a courtesy, I need to return him a meal. A Japanese feast is coming up! Pics following:

Average at its best~

25 Feb - Lance was hinting Thai food. Ok, I made it obvious and open that we shall go eat Thai cuisine, together with Nicholas. Tried searching for some nice Thai food outlets around town. Finally we decided to go for Jane Thai @ Orchard Tower.

Upon reaching the place, we were greeted by how sleazy the place was. You can see those women standing outside. Then after enter the building, can see the interior is a bit run-down. And mainly the pubs were operating inside, to be more specific, Thai pub.

Just besides this pub, there stood this small little and perhaps low profile Thai restaurant called Jane Thai. Nah, it's not one of the sleazy places like the rest. It is a perfectly fine eatery place. The price was not too bad given its location in CBD area. Luckily I sat back facing the rest of the patrons, but poor Nicholas had to tahan the scene of ang moh men and Thai women. Lol...

That aside, the food was actually not bad. The green curry is my favourite. Fried chicken wings were nice too. Pineapple rice was just average only. Pics coming up!

Wah, my favourite: green curry!

Chicken wings

Pineapple fried rice, average IMO

Pad thai!

Roasted pork, nice!

14 Mar - Went back NTU for IA assessment by professor. But professor wasn't around (had some miscommunication about appointment scheduling), as I was walking around in school, I noticed some changes going on. Example is the expansion of study area at south spine. They made use of some vacant space below LT (the carpark level) and converted it into study area and they looked nice.

Some changes going on at NTU

15 Mar - Had the assessment with professor. After some inputs from him, I am determined to do my job well. Gambatte!

17 Mar - Took part in dragon boat carnival for the first time. Actually it was quite fun, but also tiring at same time (woke up super early and I didn't attend the training). Then also got to know the rest of the interns and people. Otherwise I would just emo alone there. :(

Overall it was fun experience. Supervisor didn't expect me to row lol. And I didn't expect polar puffs, milo van to be there. Came as a surprise to me lor.

Sandwiches and chips, quite nice IMO

Different thoughts different way of doing things

After today's incident, I came to this conclusion.

Well, what to do, what has happened, has happened. Have to move on with life. Learn things in the hard way.

vexed

Simple things can keep me vexed. I don't know how to explain my behaviour at times also. But I guess the most important thing is that I'm actually aware of it and from there try to rectify.

Like today's incident at lift. I knew they were outside, but inside there were strangers too. Personally for me, I can wait for the next lift, it's perfectly fine for me with anything. Today I didn't open the door for those outside to come in, it's not I delibrate don't want to open. If the whole lift only the group of us, I will definitely open door with no questions asked. But I think because of the strangers, also paiseh if last minute there are people coming in.

There's no right or wrong answers, but whether socially accepted or not. After discussing with friend, it seems that I'm in the 'wrong', not to the extent of legally wrong. Well, I do feel that too and was feeling quite bad about it. That's why I have been thinking about this the whole afternoon today. The difference in the thoughts will cause this kind of deviations.

And I have been procrastinating the logbook writing. Can foresee so much things to do this weekend.

Another thing is vex over some personal matters. Ahh, not a very good week this week.

Week 5

Another full week for me at IA. This week is rather tiring because I have something on after work almost everyday.

Talk about work. Actually compared to other jobs, I'm happy I've got this one. Supervisor is nice. Colleagues are nice and helpful too. Just that I feel there is somehow a thin barrier between individuals. This is in contrast to another department I always see everyday, haha. But nonetheless, there is nothing I could ask for since they hire me for IA. At this preliminary stage, there is nothing much I can learn because it's mainly data import works. Hopefully I can gain more at a later stage. :)

MONDAY
It was an impromptu decision and plan from HL. So I had to rush home after work at 6 because his gift is with me but at home. Did bathing, dinner and dish washing quickly before I headed down to NUS. But I was a little bit too late when HH got released from his evening class early! 真是的……

性感pose喔!

TUESDAY
Went for IPT session :(

WEDNESDAY
HH's iPhone got auto shutdown for no reason so he wanted to do an exchange at comcenter and he asked us whoever can accompany him go down do the exchange. Personally, my week is a bit hectic and just to do iPhone 1-to-1 exchange is a bit lame. So I didn't go but HL went down with him though and they had a sumptous Japanese dinner at Sushi Tei.

THURSDAY
A yearly buffet affair. This time round, the K9 gathering was held back to Kbox Cineleisure. The same place was chosen to be the venue 2 years ago when Jansen was about to fly to Australia for further study for the first time. This time round, the reason is the same, meet together before Jansen leaves SG next week.

Some updates: those at NUS continue to study at NUS campus. The NTU ppl had started IA, with YZ working in Schneider Electric. Those already in property industry seem to be doing well and being well off too.

This time round, we had 2 more guests - ZZ and Kenny Tan. Kenny was super super super rare guest. I think the last time I saw him was Oct 2008? Time flies. Now he even has a child and ZZ has finished his studies. On the other hand, Joseph started to prepare his wedding. The uni folks are in year 3 and soon we all will join the working force and another chapter begins...

SK is rather interesting. On FB I've noticed that he has put on some mass and it's rather obvious. When asked about IPPT, his view towards it was like a total 180 deg change lor. Now he doesn't even take IPPT. So I wonder those NSman, how many % can actually pass IPPT. Maybe those study uni ones still can la, but I feel that the real thing kicks in once you start your working life. Do you go exercise that often as in uni days?

Moving on to the food. I feel that there is room for improvement. The food which required coupons to "buy" were cold (supposedly to be one level higher than those laid there for our dining). Generally I didn't rave about buffet although it looks like best deal ever. Haha... And due to the fact that we hadn't been meeting each other for quite a long time (for me, I hadn't seen some of them for more than a year already), so it's more of dining together and chat and laughed rather than karaoke. So maybe next time can choose normal buffet? I'm fine with ala carte too, as long as it's a gathering event.

Shi Hao比我還要會自拍!

ZZ也加入...

跟Edwin合照……

最後是大合照

FRIDAY
Actually I want to stay out for a while before go home one. Then HH still haven't got over the hangover effect from the Monday gathering. Kept asking us to give him one more surprise. =.=

On the other hand, K9 side was quiet. There's car available for supper but Bay didn't sound out. It was a super boring night.

20 January 2012

pre-CNY celebration

Nothing much for today, just kept on doing my work (just 2nd day only, but I wanted to keep myself occupied) and this concluded my 3rd week of IA.

So lunchtime, instead of having to splurge on expensive food (like $4.70 for mixed rice at Banquet... 有一點無言說), we had a small gathering within the department where we had 撈生!

First time had 撈生 from Sakae Sushi with additional 生魚片 actually it's not that bad la... Love the fish and crackers lol. Then there was another plate with full of sushi too, had 2 or 3 of it before I call myself a day. Didn't even eat the bakkwa and the mandarin oranges.

I should have correct the Chinese writings on the white boards! They contain some writing errors, luckily it's not a wrong word. =X

The big big boss announced that we could leave work after 3pm. This is rather a good news for me as I did not expect leave earlier than 5; Friday is a good day that I look forward to 有沒有?

But at 3pm, I did not see anybody leaving. Are they too engrossed in their work? Or are they just joking? But nonetheless, about 3.30pm could see people start packing up and leave for CNY preparation and celebration.

I also left earlier, about 3.40pm. Reached home 4.40pm. Wanted to go for a run, but it was drizzling, no choice but to call it off.

Next week is rather boring for me as I think I'm the only one to be available in office because everybody goes for their CNY celebration. A bit sad la, unlike HH who gets a week's worth of holiday leh!

While on my way to work, on the MRT, I saw some EEE coursemates. I bet they are also on IA. But don't know which company though. One of them works in Harbourfront and also did project work for HW110, I don't think he actually remembers me. Shall talk to him next time we see each other bah...

That's all for now. Wish everybody and myself a very very Happy Chinese New Year!
